Reserve Requirements |

Physical Test |
| The
Chino Valley Fire District hires firefighters from the Reserve pool. The
requirements for Reserve firefighter are to be at least 18 years old,
and pass a physical , written and oral board exam. |
Each participant must go through the physical agility test orientation prior to testing. Participants who are late for the orientation will not be allowed to test. After completion of the orientation, participants will be called one at a time, to the starting area. | |

| 2. Ventilation Exercise: Participant
shall stand over railroad tie inside a 4' x 4' box, strike railroad tie
fifty (50) times, raising the sledge hammer above shoulder each time. 3. Sandbag Drag: Participant shall drag a 140 pound sandbag 30 feet, while walking backwards, pivot around a pylon, and return to the starting point. 4. Ladder Raise: Participant shall pull a halyard, hand over hand, raising the fly section of a twenty-four (24) foot extension ladder to a pre-determined height. Then hand over hand; lower the fly section back to the ground without letting the rope slip. 5. High Rise Hose Carry: Participant shall pick up and carry two rolls of 1.5" hose, weighing 45 pounds, for a distance of 160 feet. Within this 160 feet, the applicant will ascend three flights of stairs and descend to the starting point. 6. Ladder Placement: Participant will lift the roof ladder off the ladder brackets, keeping the ladder under control, and walk to the next set of brackets and replace the ladder. 7. Hose Drag: Participant shall drag a 2 ½ - inch hose with nozzle two-hundred-ten (210) feet. |

Rules and Regulations
01 RESERVE FIREFIGHTER POLICY Revised January 2002 Reserve firefighters shall adhere to the Administrative and Operational Policies of the Chino Valley Fire District as well as the guidelines of this policy. SHIFT ASSIGNMENT: Each reserve firefighter shall be assigned to a regular duty shift. As a member of Shift “A”, “B” or “C” the firefighter shall be the responsibility of the Station 61 Captain of their assigned shift. DUTY SCHEDULE: The reserve firefighter shall be considered to be on Primary Call during the hours which their assigned shift is on duty. The firefighter is expected to monitor the emergency calls and respond to calls where the initial dispatch calls for two or more stations. Each reserve firefighter shall work a minimum of one 12 hour shift with their assigned crew each calendar month. This 12 hour shift shall be worked as one block of time and may be whatever hours the firefighter and their Captain agree upon. The 12 hour shift may be scheduled during the second training session of the preceding month. Failure to work a 12 hour shift in a given calendar month shall place the reserve in a probationary status. Working a make-up shift the following month or fulfilling their responsibilities for the next three consecutive months will remove the firefighter from probationary status. The firefighter shall make known to his/her Captain the hours when they will be unable to respond. The firefighter shall maintain them self in a manner as to be ready for emergency response at any time during their twenty-four hour Primary Call shift. On days when the reserve firefighter’s assigned shift is not on duty, the firefighter is considered to be on Secondary Call. The firefighter is encouraged to respond to any incident of appreciable size if they are available to do so. ATTENDANCE: Reserve firefighters shall attend at least 50% of the monthly training drills. Reserve firefighters are expected to respond to emergency calls while their assigned shift is on duty. |
